Frequently Asked Questions

Below are our answers to the questions we get asked the most about marketing and how we work with our clients.  We hope they help answer some of your questions.

What size companies does MarketingHQ work with?

We work with a range of companies from start-ups to established businesses that have operated for many years.  The one common characteristic is that our clients commonly don’t have any marketing expertise in-house.  Start-ups often have expertise in other areas but use our services to help them package and market their new business.  More established businesses commonly don’t have a person with marketing skills on staff and so seek our help to help develop marketing strategies and implement them on their behalf.

What’s the process MarketingHQ typically undertakes with new clients?

Each new client engagement begins with a no obligation, one-on-one free consultation either in person or by phone.  We sit down with prospective clients to understand their marketing issues and offer some general advice in that meeting on how we can help.

Following our meeting, we develop a proposal for consideration and outline the steps we will undertake to meet the clients objectives.

Once agreed, we ask our clients to sign a letter of engagement which outlines what we have agreed to in the proposal and we begin work.

Are marketing and advertising the same thing?

This is the most common question we get asked. No they are not the same thing but they are related.  Advertising is probably the most common promotional tactic used by businesses to meet their marketing objectives.  Marketing on the other hand is the underlying strategy that a businesses uses to attract and keep customers. This includes promotions but also many other considerations like pricing, packaging and methods of distribution to name a few.

I’ve tried marketing and it didn’t work. How can MarketingHQ help me?

The most common reason marketing doesn’t work for businesses is lack of expertise.  Businesses often put together their own marketing campaigns but they don’t work because they don’t reach or address the needs of the target market.

Marketing should only be done by marketing experts.  Just as legal advice should only be given by lawyers and tax advise should only be given by accountants.  If you’re not a marketing expert and your marketing didn’t deliver results – there is probably a good reason why.
